Management of European Funds

The Institute of Women has a double function in relation to the European Programmes co-financed by the Structural Funds: the European Regional Development Fund(ERDF), the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Cohesion Fund:

  • To promote equality between men and women and the integration of gender questions in the various stages of execution of the Funds (Article 16 of Council Regulation (EC) nº 1083/2006).

In order to work toward compliance with the gender perspective, the Institute of Women set up the Gender Equality Policy Network to ensure the real and effective application of the gender perspective in the areas co-financed by the Funds.

The Institute of Women is also a member of the Monitoring Committees of the aforementioned Funds and of the Committees of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Regional Development (EAFRD) and the European Fisheries Fund (EFF).

To act as the intermediary organisation or the administrator of projects connected to the following Operative Programmes for the period 2007-2013:

  • "Operational Programme in the Fight against Discrimination, co-financed by the ESF"
  • "Technical Assistance and Governance Operational Programme, co-financed by the ERDF

OP in the Fight against Discrimination:

As part of this Operative Programme, the Institute of Women develops projects aimed at raising awareness of the situation facing women in all areas of life, possible gender gaps and the training and awareness-raising in matters of equality.

OP Technical Assistance and Governance:

The main project undertaken by the Institute of Women is the creation and running of the Equality Policy Network.

The Equality Policy Network is a forum for debate and analysis to improve the real and effective integration of the gender perspective in action co-financed by the Structural Funds (ESF and ERDF) and the Cohesion Fund (CF).
