Other observatories

Public bodies such as the Ministry of Health and the General Council of the Judiciary have specific departments that advise, analyse, assess and transmit all the information regarding cross-cutting gender equality policies in their respective spheres of activity

  • Violence against Women State Observatory. Will open in a new window A body which answers to the State Department for Equality through the Government Delegation for Gender Violence, which deals with assessing, evaluating, collaborating, preparing reports and studies and proposing action to be taken in gender violence matters.
  • Women's Health Observatory. Will open in a new window Body pertaining to the General Directorate of the Quality Control Agency, a department of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs which promotes the eradication of gender inequality in healthcare.
  • The Domestic and Gender Violence Observatory of the General Council of the Judiciary. Will open in a new window This is an instrument used for analysis and action which, within the sphere of the Legal Administration, promotes initiatives and measures aimed at eradicating domestic and gender violence.
  • Observatory for Women in the State Security Forces. This observatory was set up to provide an up-to-date overview of the situation facing women in the National Police and the Civil Guard, and draw up recommendations in matters regarding equality.
  • Observatory for Gender, Constitution and Statutory Reforms from the National Institute of Public Administration. This observatory was created within the National Institute of Public Administration to stimulate public debate regarding the introduction of a gender perspective within the current debate concerning statutory reform, serving as a platform to enable the various social agents (politicians, academics, trade unionist, associations etc.) to get involved in Public Governance in order to improve gender mainstreaming on a national and regional level.
  • Observatorio de Igualdad de Género de América Latina y el Caribe Will open in a new window Es un observatorio de ámbito regional, coordinado por la CEPAL(Comisión Económica de América Latina y el Caribe), que se puso en marcha en cumplimiento de los acuerdos adoptados durante la X Conferencia Regional celebrada en Quito, Ecuador (2007) . Tiene como objetivos: analizar y hacer visible el cumplimiento de metas y objetivos internacionales en torno a la igualdad de género; poner a disposición de los gobiernos indicadores estratégicos de género y herramientas analíticas para la formulación de políticas. Para ello brinda apoyo técnico y capacitación a los Institutos Nacionales de Estadística y de los Mecanismos para el Adelanto de las Mujeres de los países que lo soliciten. Anualmente elabora un informe que proporciona un diagnóstico sobre las desigualdades entre mujeres y hombres en temas claves como: trabajo remunerado y no remunerado, uso del tiempo y pobreza, acceso a la toma de decisiones y representación política, violencia de género y salud y derechos reproductivos.
